Award-winning Nigerian artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced that he will be performing at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this year.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu will not be attending the 79th UNGA session. In a statement released on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu cited a focus on domestic issues, particularly the recent flooding in Nigeria, as the reason for his absence.
The statement, titled ‘Vice President Shettima to Lead Nigeria’s Delegation to the 79th United Nations General Assembly,’ explained that Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead the Nigerian delegation in Tinubu’s place.
“President Bola Tinubu will not attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this year. Therefore, the President has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead Nigeria’s delegation,” the statement read.
Onanuga further explained, “The President wants to focus on domestic issues and address some of the country’s challenges, especially after the recent devastating flooding.”
Vice President Shettima is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement at the General Assembly, participate in high-level sideline events, and hold bilateral meetings with key global leaders.
