The Super Eagles of Nigeria closed out the year 2024 ranked 44th globally, according to the latest FIFA rankings.
The Nigerian men’s national football team experienced a significant drop in the November rankings after a shocking home loss to Rwanda during the qualifiers for the 2025 African Cup of Nations.
Based on the rankings released on Thursday afternoon, the Super Eagles accumulated 1482.23 points, placing them 44th in the world and 5th in Africa.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s Atlas Lions maintained their position as the top-ranked team in Africa, sitting 14th globally.
They are followed by Senegal’s Teranga Lions, ranked 17th worldwide and second on the continent.
In the November rankings, the Super Eagles fell eight positions to secure 44th place.
Argentina, the reigning world champions, retained their position at the top of the rankings.
France holds the second spot, followed by Spain in third. England is ranked fourth, with Brazil rounding out the top five in fifth place.
