Real Betis have secured their spot in the knockout stages of the 2024-25 UEFA Conference League following a slim 1-0 triumph over HJK Helsinki at the Benito Villamarin.
With their progression at stake, Betis fielded a strong line-up, determined to avoid a slip-up that could end their European campaign.
Among the regular starters was Johnny Cardoso, who proved decisive, breaking the deadlock in the 27th minute with a close-range strike.
Despite their efforts to extend the lead in the second half, Betis couldn’t find the back of the net again.
However, the solitary goal was enough to satisfy manager Manuel Pellegrini, whose side achieved the vital victory needed to move forward.
Having finished 15th in the league phase standings, Betis will now enter the play-off round, where they are set to face FC Kobenhavn.
The two sides previously shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw earlier in the competition.
