The Jigawa State Police Command has disbursed cheques totaling N91,449,437.60k to the families of 24 fallen police officers as part of efforts to support them in their time of need.
The solemn ceremony, held at the command’s headquarters in Dutse on Tuesday, was a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by officers in the line of duty.
The financial aid was provided under the Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Scheme, designed to assist bereaved families before the full benefits of their deceased loved ones are processed.
Addressing attendees, Commissioner of Police Ahmad Abdullahi highlighted the significance of the initiative, explaining that it aims to alleviate the immediate financial burden on the families.
“The scheme is designed to ease the burden on the families and provide them with financial assistance during difficult times,” CP Abdullahi stated.
He emphasized that the beneficiaries, primarily next-of-kin, were selected under the welfare scheme to ensure they receive prompt support.
He also urged them to manage the funds wisely for their families’ well-being.
“Today, we honor the sacrifices of our officers who dedicated their lives to protecting our communities,” he said. “While no amount of money can replace their presence, this initiative stands as a testament that the Nigeria Police Force will never forget their service and will always stand by their families.”
Reaffirming the police force’s dedication to the welfare of both serving and fallen officers, CP Abdullahi assured that such initiatives would continue.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the recipients, Sauki Rose appreciated the Inspector General of Police and the Jigawa State Police Command for their timely intervention, pledging that the funds would be used to support their families effectively.
The event concluded with prayers for the departed souls, with assurances that their sacrifices would always be remembered.
