One of the suspects detained by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command for the murder of retired Brigadier General Uwen Harold in Kabusa has given a chilling account of the incident.
According to The PUNCH, Rabiu Ibrahim, in a confession video detailed the events leading to the tragic death.
Ibrahim explained that the gang attacked General Harold with knives when he allegedly attempted to shoot them.
The suspects then stole the victim’s phone and laptop after the fatal stabbing.
In a confession translated from Pidgin English, Ibrahim stated, “My name is Rabiu Ibrahim from Kano. I was arrested for robbery. We stole his (the Gen’s) phone and laptop. We had two knives with us. It was Kazeem who stabbed him in the belly and I stabbed him in the arm. The reason why we stabbed him was that he brought out a gun. We killed him because he had a gun.”
When questioned by journalists about their knowledge of the victim’s status as a retired military officer, Ibrahim responded negatively.
Police operatives arrested four suspects in connection with the murder, with two others at large and declared wanted.
The FCT Police Commissioner, Benneth Igweh, assured the public of recovering the late general’s pistol from the fleeing suspects.
Igweh stated, “Today, I want to inform you that we have caught the killers of the Brigadier General. They are Ibrahim Rabiu, Nafiu Jamil, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Nuhu plus two others that we are declaring wanted now; they were the people who raided his house and killed the General.”
The police also arrested a chief informant, logistics suppliers, and a PoS operator working with kidnappers in separate operations.
One suspect, Sunday Musa, confessed to distributing about N20m on behalf of the kidnappers.
