Mohamed Salah’s late goal salvaged a 2-2 draw for Liverpool against Arsenal in a thrilling Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Arsenal took an early lead in the ninth minute when Bukayo Saka unleashed a powerful shot past Liverpool’s defense.
However, Liverpool responded just minutes later, with Virgil van Dijk heading in an equalizer from a Luis Diaz flick following a well-placed corner.
Just before the half-time whistle, Mikel Merino scored his debut goal for Arsenal. Rising high to meet a Declan Rice free-kick, he delivered a powerful header that was eventually confirmed as a goal after a thorough VAR check.
In the second half, Liverpool intensified their pressure and were rewarded when Salah tapped in from close range in the 81st minute.
His equalizer not only earned Liverpool a valuable point but also kept them within striking distance of leaders Manchester City, holding 22 points from nine games.
Arsenal, meanwhile, slipped to third place with 18 points as the competitive top of the table continues to tighten.
