The National Association of Resident Doctors has given the Federal Government a two-week ultimatum to meet the agreement regarding their demands or experiences of the Doctors’ industrial action.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the resident doctors after their Extraordinary National Executive Council meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun state and accessed by The Punch.
The meeting, which took place from April 27th to 29th, was held to discuss issues affecting the welfare of the doctors.
According to the report, the meeting was also to discuss the high rate of emigration of healthcare workers due to poor remuneration and inadequate funding of the health sector.
In a letter sent to the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire on July 7, 2022, the doctors requested an immediate 200% increment in the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure in addition to the new allowances outlined, which addressed the review of CONMESS
