Muslims residents of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, on Saturday gathered in their numbers to pray for rainfall.
Since the start of the rainy season, rain has been rare in Hong LGA, which is located in the northern section of Adamawa State.
Residents of Yola, the state capital, have been complaining of heat that is comparable to that which may be expected in the ordinarily hot months of March through May, suggesting that the relative dryness in a supposedly wet season looks to be the reality in all of Adamawa State.
In an effort to obtain consistent rainfall in their community, the Muslim residents of Hong gathered at the council headquarters in Hong town on Saturday where they performed Salatul Istiqa’a, a specific prayer intended to request rain.
The prayer was conducted by Sa’idu Garba, the Deputy Chief Imam of Hong Central Mosque, in the presence of Umar Mahmoud, the District Head of Hong.
Sa’idu Garba requested God to end the hardship that Nigerians experience everywhere they reside and prayed for enough rain for farmers to produce a big harvest.
