Some thugs have reportedly unleash attack on some commercial banks in the Epe are of Lagos State, taking advantage of the cash crunch-induced protest.
According to reports, the banks attacked including Zenith, Key Stone, First Bank and United Bank for Africa and have temporarily suspended operations in Epe as a result of the attack.
It was gathered that the attack was as a result of the inability of the masses to access cash from the affected banks, adding that the issue was being taken care of.
The Epe incident is coming barely few hours of an outburst on Friday morning at Ojota-Mile 12 area of the state which was quelled by security operatives.
It was also gathered that aside attacks on banks in Epe, social unrest were being experienced in parts of Ikorodu including Sabo, Majidun, Agric and Ogolonto.
It was said that security alert blog, EONS Intelligence, reported Access Bank had ordered all branches in Lagos to shutdown over growing threats of attacks on banks.
He added that the Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, have also threatened to shut down operations across the country should the attacks on banks continue.
Confirming the incident, the Police Spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said the information at his disposal indicated that it was three banks that were being attacked, adding that security operatives were already on ground to handle the situation. The Punch reports.
He said, “Three banks were attacked in Epe but our men are already on the ground,”
