A 57-year-old medical doctor in Lagos State, Dr. Femi Olaleye, is to be arraigned by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution got the alleged defilement of his wife’s 15-year-old niece.
This was disclosed in a letter of notification titled, ‘State of Lagos vs Dr Olufemi Olaleye,’ signed by the Principal State Counsel for the DPP, Mr Oluwagbenga Alagbe, and made available to journalists on Sunday in Lagos.
Alagbe stated that the arraignment would take place before Justice Ramon Oshodi of Ikeja’s Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court.
“Olaleye will be facing a two-count of defilement and sexual assault by penetration.
“He must appear before the Honourable Court and also make provision for a legal practitioner of his choice,” Alagbe said.
The attorney added that the accused had already received notice of his or her arraignment, which was accompanied by copies of the information papers and proof of the evidence.
After taking over the case for further investigation, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Agency recommended the doctor be tried and forwarded the case file to the DPP.
