The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp has authorized the deployment of 1,800 officers to secure the state during the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
The NSCDC’s State Commandant, Paul Igwebuike, disclosed this information in a statement through the Command Public Relations Officer, DSC Abdulkahi Aliyu, in Lokoja, and released to journalists on Friday.
The deployment aligns with the directive from NSCDC Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi, aiming to ensure a smooth Eid-el-Kabir celebration nationwide.
The statement emphasized the responsibility of Kogi State’s NSCDC Area Commanders to ensure effective security coordination within their jurisdictions. Divisional Officers are tasked with mobilizing their personnel efficiently.
According to Aliyu, Commandant Igwebuike also instructed that all component commanders and special forces be deployed to guarantee comprehensive security, safeguarding both the populace and critical national assets.
“Our resolve to guarantee peace, safety, and protection of lives and critical assets in synergy with other security agencies must be carried out through our collective inputs. For these obvious reasons, I have directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers with these responsibilities; therefore, everyone must brace up to discharge their responsibilities satisfactorily,” the statement quoted the NSCDC Commandant.
The Commandant also mandated all formations within the State Command to engage with community stakeholders to gather credible intelligence and conduct extensive surveillance to prevent any criminal activities before, during, and after the celebration.
“The deployment of personnel should focus on prayer grounds, worship centers, recreational facilities, motor parks, gardens, markets, shopping complexes, black spots and critical installations to ensure the festivity is hitch-free,” Aliyu stated.
