The Redeemed Christian Church of God has called on anyone with credible evidence related to allegations against two of its pastors accused of sexual misconduct to come forward and share their information.
In response to the accusations, the church has placed both pastors on indefinite suspension until the investigation reaches a conclusion.
Church Times reported that the RCCG’s National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, October 29, with the headline, ‘RCCG Addresses Allegations Against Youth Ministers’.
The statement affirms that the church takes these accusations seriously, acknowledging the importance of thoroughly addressing the claims made against the youth pastors involved.
According to the statement, the church has already launched an investigation and emphasized, “youth ministers have been placed on indefinite suspension and have been removed from all ministerial duties until we can fully address all these allegations.”
An earlier internal memo, titled “Investigation and Suspension Regarding Allegation of Homosexuality,” dated October 28 and signed by Pastor Akande, directed the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration to take charge of the investigation.
The memo also confirmed the suspension of the two youth pastors (names withheld), indicating the church’s commitment to proper and transparent handling of the situation.
In this recent public appeal, RCCG encourages individuals with pertinent information that could aid the investigation to submit evidence via email to rccgadm@gmail.com or call the official helpline at 09039000700.
The church also clarified that only substantiated information related to the specific case will be considered for review.
The statement emphasized RCCG’s dedication to transparency, stating the church will neither condone actions that violate its core values nor tolerate any cover-up of sinful behavior.
