The Katsina State Police Command has arrested three teenagers, who kidnapped a six-year-old girl in Kano and demanded two million naira as ransom for her release.
According to The PUNCH, this was disclosed by the spokesperson for the Command, SP Gambo Isah, on Wednesday.
He identified the three suspects, all of whom were nineteen years old, as Abdulrazaq Ibrahim, Aliyu Salisu, and Muhammed Ibrahim. Only Ibrahim is from Kano, while the other two suspects are from Katsina State.
The trio kidnapped the six-year-old victim, Fatima Abubakar, in Kano on January 6, 2023, and transported her to Katsina.
They then wanted a two million naira ransom for her release.
The police official stated that after receiving credible intelligence regarding the event, men from the Katsina command sprung into action, leading to the arrest of Aliyu Salisu as he was going to collect the ransom.
Further investigation reportedly led to the arrest of the other two suspects.
Isah explained, “On the 10, January 2023, at about 5 pm, based on credible intelligence the command succeeded in busting and arresting of one Abdulrazak Ibrahim alias ‘Popular’ , 19, of Bachirawa quarters, Kano State; Aliyu Salisu alias ‘Chilo’,19, of Sabuwa Unguwa quarters, Katsina State and Mohammed Ibrahim alias ‘Zalamo’, 19, of Gidan Dawa quarters, Katsina State.
“Nemesis caught up with the syndicate when they kidnapped their victim one Fatima Abubakar, ‘F’, 6, of Bachirawa quarters, Kano State on January 6, 2023, at about 11 am whisked her to Katsina State and demanded for two million naira (N2,000,000.00) ransom.
“Upon receipt of the information, immediately detectives swung into action. The suspect Aliyu Salisu alias ‘Chilo’ was caught red handed in the process of receiving the ransom. During the cause of investigation, the other members of the syndicate were also arrested and the victim rescued unhurt.
” Investigation is ongoing.”
