The Spanish football authorities have blocked a move for embattled Chelsea forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, to return to Barcelona this January transfer window.
Due to Spanish league registration restrictions, the Catalan giants will not be allowed to re-sign the Gabonese international from Chelsea this month.
In January 2021, the striker joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal, and after only six months at Camp Nou, he returned to London to join Chelsea in a £12 million move.
He has yet to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, scoring only three goals in 15 appearances.
The 33-year-old is now thought to be open to leaving West Ham this month, with rumours in Spain claiming Barcelona would love to have him back.
However, the Catalan team will have to wait until the end of the season because Spanish laws prohibit players from being registered twice by the same club in the same season.
When asked about the possibility of re-signing Aubameyang, Barcelona manager Xavi remarked in a press conference on Wednesday that he was satisfied with his existing group.
