The Kano Commissioner of Education, Umar Haruna Doguwa, has instituted a five-man committee for the planned reopening of the boarding schools that were closed by previous administration.
This was contained in a statement by his spokesperson, Aliyu Yusuf, stressing that it became necessary considering the importance of boarding schools in Kano state’s education system.
Doguwa maintained that the closure of such schools by the immediate past administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje would be investigated.
While noting that this will be done with a view to finding out the actual reasons for taking such a decision which was attributed to security issues, the Commissionsr said, “The committee will among other things come up with facts on why and how the schools were closed down at a time when more it’s kind were needed to accommodate the teeming students of the state,” Doguwa said.
Doguwa stressed further that the committee would report to the ministry the current positions of the schools regarding infrastructure, physical structures, and security.
The Kano Commissioner of Education called on the committee members to work diligently to ensure that the objective of the re-opening excercise will be achieved.
He, however, reassured the residents that the new administration of the state under the leadership of Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf is committed to rebuilding the education sector for the better.
