Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has signed Executive Order 001 of 2024 on the safe handling of harmful substances.
Makinde made this known via his X page.
The governor said the order specifies that anyone in possession of harmful substances in Oyo State must notify the relevant authorities within 72 hours and subsequently, within 24 hours of coming into possession of the harmful substances.
He wrote, “Earlier today, I signed Executive Order No. 001 of 2024 on the Safe Handling and Storage of Harmful Substances Within Oyo State.
“The order specifies that anyone in possession of harmful substances in Oyo State must notify the relevant authorities within 72 hours of the effective date of this order (which is today) and subsequently, within 24 hours of coming into possession of the harmful substances.
“Failure to comply with the provisions of this Executive Order shall constitute an offence and shall be punishable under Chapter 38 of the Criminal Code Law, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000 and any other applicable Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Makinde while giving an update on the Ibadan explosion said report on structural integrity test will be out by next week..
He added that almost all affected have been discharged except for one who needs surgery.
He wrote, “We were at Ground Zero of the Bodija incident this afternoon to monitor the progress of the recovery stage which we embarked on last week.
“The structural integrity tests on buildings around the site have been concluded and we expect the official report by next week.
“On the medical side, most patients have already been discharged with only one person awaiting surgery.
“We have also continued our engagement with the affected community and we are working towards supporting them to resume their normal lives.
“We have scheduled an expanded meeting for Tuesday, 6 February 2024 after which we will outline the next steps our administration will take on this issue.”
