The operatives of the Lagos State Police Command on Thursday arrested a suspected cultist identified as Seun Olatunbosun, at the Onipanu area of the state.
State Police Command Spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest noted that Olatunbosun was apprehended at the scene, adding that a locally made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from him from a black bag.
He explained that the suspect’s arrest followed a failed attempt to attack the Chairman, Fadeyi Maruwa Park by armed men suspected to be members of the Black Axe Confraternity.
It was learnt that armed men numbering about six stormed the park and disrupted activities there.
However, the reason for their action was yet to be ascertained, it was said that the police were immediately contacted and anti-crime patrol team dispatched to the location to maintain the peace.
Hundeyin said an investigation had commenced into the incident.
