The Prelate of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, Most Reverend Oliver Aba, has declared that gay marriage is an abomination in the eyes of God and humanity.
According to The PUNCH, He made these remarks during an interview with our correspondent after the Africa Methodist Council Heads of Conference Summit and Women’s Movement Leadership Summit, held in Lagos on Saturday.
He emphasized that this concept, which he attributes to European influence, aims to disrupt the world’s natural order.
Aba asserted that gay marriage is not part of African culture and vowed that the church would resist its acceptance.
The summit featured a lecture by the General Secretary of the World Methodist Council, Bishop Ivan Abrahams, on the topic, ‘Leadership in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous World.’
In his interview with Sunday PUNCH, Reverend Aba explained that the conference addressed not only political issues plaguing Africa but also significant social concerns.
“Consider the issue of gay marriage. Gay marriage is an abomination. God did not create the world with such a concept. It is not part of African culture. The idea that a man should sleep with another man, or a woman with another woman, or for individuals to take same-sex partners as spouses, is an abomination. It seems like the European world wants to turn the world upside down,” he stated.
Aba further elaborated that procreation, which he described as the ‘natural order of things,’ requires a union between a man and a woman.
