A fatal road accident along the Agaie-Lapai road in Niger State has claimed the lives of four people and left 13 others injured.
The crash, which occurred on Monday, involved three trailer trucks and was reportedly caused by reckless overtaking.
One of the trucks was transporting livestock, including cows and goats, many of which perished in the collision.
According to The PUNCH, the Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Abdullahi Baba-Arah, confirmed the incident, stating that emergency responders and volunteers carried out rescue operations at the scene.
“NSEMA has received a report of a road crash that occurred today, 3rd February 2025, in Agaie Local Government Area, along the Agaie–Lapai road near Al’Farma International School. It was a head-on collision involving three trailer trucks, one of which was carrying cattle and goats,” Baba-Arah said.
According to him, the crash resulted in the deaths of four individuals. “Two people died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital,” he added.
He further disclosed that 15 cows and more than 20 goats were killed when one of the trucks attempted a wrong overtaking.
“As of now, 13 injured victims have been taken to Agaie General Hospital, where they are receiving medical attention,” Baba-Arah noted.
