Two children dead in Lagos collapsed building
Two children have reportedly lost their lives after a fence collapsed in Ajao Street, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The National Emergency Management Agency stated that the incident happened on Saturday morning.
“The children aged nine and seven were trapped when the fence from the neighbouring house fell on their building during the day’s heavy downpour,” NEMA Coordinator in the South-West, Ibrahim Farinloye, said in a statement.
The Agency reported that the failure to appropriately direct distressed calls resulted in a failure to rescue the children.
NEMA expressed sympathy towards the parents of the deceased and offered prayers for their strength in coping with the loss.
The Agency said the Lagos State Building Control Agency have been to the scene to assess the situation.
