Manchester United have announced their fourth acquisition of the summer transfer window with the addition of defender Anna Sandberg.
The 21-year-old joins the club from Swedish team BK Hacken, having signed a three-year contract that runs until the end of the 2026/27 season, with an option for an additional year.
Sandberg, who has been with BK Hacken since 2022, brings valuable Champions League experience.
On the international stage, Sandberg made her senior debut for Sweden in February 2023 against China.
She was later included in the squad for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, where Sweden reached the semi-finals and secured third place.
In an interview with manutd.com, Sandberg expressed her excitement: “I’m very happy and grateful to sign for this big club, Manchester United.
I hope I can help our team with my qualities and deliver many winning moments for our fantastic fans.”
Manager Marc Skinner also shared his enthusiasm: “We are delighted to have Anna join our Manchester United family. She is a talented young player, who already has a wealth of international and Champions League experience. We look forward to seeing her develop further in red.”
Sandberg is the third new signing for United this summer, joining former Wolfsburg centre-back Dominique Janssen and ex-Brighton forward Elisabeth Terland.
Additionally, the Red Devils have secured Melvine Malard on a permanent deal from Lyon following a successful loan spell last season.
