A High Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, has rejected a plea to stop the State Government from installing a successor to the vacant throne of the Olufon of Ifon in the State
The Odunolu Oluronbi and Oluyeyin royal families of Ifon presented an oral prayer to the court.
The families had approached the court seeking an injunction to restrain the state government from proceeding with the installation process of the new Olufon of Ifon.
The Chief Judge, Justice Ayo Oyebiyi declined the request, citing previous orders he had granted on the same matter and the absence of representatives from other parties involved in the case.
He said, “The absence of representatives of other interested parties is a major reason for declining the order.”
The court adjourned the case to October 12, 2023, for further hearing.
