Eight gunmen suspected to be bandits were killed by the operatives of the Benue State Police Command on Saturday.
Channels, quoting a police source, reported that the susoects were killed after a militia group attacked the community of Akpuna in the state’s Ukum Local Government Area.
The source said,“Today 8/7/2023 at about 12pm, a militia gang invaded Akpuna village, Ukum LGA of Benue state and were shooting sporadically.”
The police source added that after receiving this information, police teams quickly hurried to the area in coordination with other security agencies and engaged the bandits, who were ultimately driven from the region.
He added, “8 corpses were recovered at the scene while many other injured persons were taken to hospital for treatment. Operation is ongoing in the area”.
