Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has vowed to extend full support to the families of the nine Community Protection Guards who tragically lost their lives in an ambush by bandits last week.
The Governor made this pledge during a visit to the Tsafe Emir’s palace, where he met with the bereaved families to offer his condolences.
The PUNCH reported that a statement issued on Sunday detailed the governor’s deep concern for the grieving families, assuring them that the state government would take responsibility for their welfare.
“I am here today to express my condolences to the emirate, people, and families of our brave guards who were killed in an ambush last week,” Lawal said. “It was a tragic incident that deeply moved us. We witnessed the courageous actions of these guards who risked their lives to protect their people.”
The Governor underscored the significance of the guards’ sacrifice, reaffirming the government’s commitment to honoring their bravery.
He emphasized that their efforts would not be in vain and assured that the state’s fight against banditry would continue with even greater resolve.
“Immediately after I received the report, I sent a high-level government delegation, led by the deputy governor, to offer condolences to the emirate and the affected families,” he revealed. “I assure you that incidents like these will not stop the ongoing onslaught against bandits. We are committed to doing everything possible to end banditry in Zamfara State.”
In a bid to alleviate the burden faced by the grieving families, Lawal announced donations of financial assistance and food supplies to aid their immediate needs.
He also made a public commitment to ensure the long-term care of the families of the slain guards.
“The Zamfara State Government will take full care of the families of the slain guards. I am making this promise here, and we will ensure we keep to it,” Lawal pledged, leaving no doubt about the state’s support for those left behind.
The Emir of Tsafe, Alhaji Muhammadu Bawa, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the governor’s timely intervention and steadfast commitment to the well-being of the affected families, lauding Lawal’s leadership during such a difficult period.
