The Association of Bread Sellers, Zamfara State, has stated that the soaring cost of production of bread in the state has forced many bakers to back out of business.
While fielding questions from journalists in Gusau, the State capital, the State chairman of the association, Alhaji Yusuf Usman cried out that the prices of confectioneries have gone beyond their reach.
Usman who doubles as the northwest zonal secretary, maintained that some confectionery houses have backed out of business as an aftermath of the high cost of production materials.
“We have no alternative than to reduce our quantity of production or go out of production as the prices of the commodities have continued to escalate since 2016”, he added.
He called on the Federal Government to look into the high cost of commodities in the country before the situation could get out of hand.
