The traditional rulers in Southwest under the auspices of Yoruba Obas Forum, Thursday decried the killing of their colleagues, the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola and Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsola, by gunmen.
The forum expressed this condemnation in a statement by its General-Secretary, Olukotun of Ikotun-Ile, Oba Abdulrasaq Abioye.
While condemning the killing of their colleagues, the Obas described it as ungodly, cruel and barbaric.
In the statement, the monarchs called on the government and security operatives to ensure they do everything in their capacity to appprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly killings and make then face full wrath of law
“It is a very sad development and if the government and security institutions continue to falter due to infiltration by individuals sympathetic to or planted within these structures to advance the agenda, then the people must rise in a well-coordinated manner to defend their land and prevent their ancestral homes from being completely obliterated.
“We urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the National Assembly to act fast on the issue, in order to find a solution to the insecurity in the country”, the monarchs said.
