The Jigawa State Police Command has launched investigations into three separate gruesome incidents, including the killing of a woman by her co-wife, the murder of a newlywed, and the beheading of a teenage almajiri.
The police have arrested a 20-year-old woman, Rukayyah Amadu, for allegedly pouring hot water on her 30-year-old co-wife, Asiyah Amadu, leading to her death.
According to The PUNCH, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, the incident happened on February 24, 2025, at Buju village in Dutse Local Government Area following a dispute between the two women.
“Asiyah Amadu suffered severe burns and was immediately taken to Dutse General Hospital for treatment. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries on March 4, 2025, at about 9 a.m.,” Adam stated.
Following her arrest, Rukayyah Amadu reportedly confessed to the crime and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further questioning.
“The police are investigating the circumstances that led to the tragic event,” Adam added.
In another horrifying incident, the police in Hadejia Local Government Area discovered a newlywed, Zainab Ibrahim, 22, unconscious in a pool of blood at her home in Warware Quarters.
“The Hadejia Divisional Police Officer led a team to the scene and found that she had suffered a deep cut on her throat,” Adam revealed.
Zainab was rushed to General Hospital Hadejia, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities have launched an investigation and are working to identify those responsible.
Meanwhile, the body of a 14-year-old almajiri, Bashir Adamu, was discovered along Jikas-Dabaja village in Gwaram Local Government Area. His remains were found mutilated and headless.
Relatives identified the victim and informed police that he had been missing for two days before the grim discovery.
