Nigeria’s Super Eagles will conduct a closed training session on Sunday as they gear up for their matchday six fixture in the Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe’s Warriors.
However, on Monday, the team will allow media access for the first 15 minutes of training, following the mandatory pre-match press conference.
In a bid to maintain focus, head coach Eric Chelle has implemented strict restrictions around the team’s camp at the Four Points Hotel in Ikot Ikenne.
Journalists and visitors will not be granted access as Chelle prioritizes undivided attention from his players ahead of Tuesday’s showdown.
Meanwhile, both Nigeria and Zimbabwe arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Saturday, landing at Victor Attah International Airport.
The Zimbabwean delegation touched down a few hours after the Super Eagles’ contingent.
The Super Eagles head into this crucial encounter fresh off a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali, a win that marked their first triumph in the qualification series after a sluggish start.
Before that, Nigeria had managed only three draws and one loss in four games.
Zimbabwe, on the other hand, are still searching for their first victory in the campaign. The Warriors have endured a tough run, recording three draws and two defeats in five matches.
The first-leg meeting between these two sides, played in Rwanda, ended in a 1-1 draw, with Kelechi Iheanacho rescuing a point for Nigeria in the second half.
With their recent win, the Super Eagles now sit in fourth place with six points, while Zimbabwe remain at the bottom of the group with just three points.
The Warriors will also be aiming to secure their first victory over Nigeria since 1981, when they won 2-0 in an international friendly.
