The West African Examinations Council on Monday released the results of candidates who sat the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations.
According to The Nation, the WAEC’s Head of National Office, Patrick Areghan, said this at a briefing on Monday, noting that the results were released 45 days after the last paper.
The examination was held for six weeks from May 16 to June 23, 2022.
76.36 per cent of the candidates obtained Credits and above in English Language and Mathematics while 88.04 per cent made Credits and above in a minimum of five subjects with or without English Language and Mathematics.
The West African Examination is a yearly exam conducted by the WAEC examination for students leaving Senior Secondary School. The exam is used as a certificate which approves students have successfully passed a secondary school, which further allows the student to participate in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination to gain admission into higher institutions.
It is required that every student who partook in the WAEC should have a minimum of 5 credits to be able to secure admission into higher tertiary education.
