Residents of Benin have been left unsettled after protests over the naira crisis broke out in several part of the state on Wednesday.
According to The PUNCH, the protesters are protesting the current economic hardship occasioned by the lingering naira scarcity crisis.
The protest took a new turn within the last 24hours after the Central Bank of Nigeria stated that the old naira would not be be a legal tender.
AM Business reported on the 14th of February that the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele stated that the February 10 deadline for the old naira stands.
In a latest development, three people have been reported dead in Benin, as a result of the ongoing protest in the State, while many banks and other properties have been destroyed in the last 48 hours.
Viral video of the protest saw some residents out in their numbers to wreck havoc on some banking properties, while some were seen destroying point of sale operators outlets.
