Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a transfer to the French club.
Italian football expert, Fabrizio Romano, shared this update on his X handle on Wednesday, adding that Napoli’s new manager, Antonio Conte, is prepared for the Nigerian striker’s departure.
Conte commented on the situation, stating, “It was already clear pact about Osimhen’s exit. The timing is exactly as we expected, there will be no issues.”
Romano further explained, “Osimhen has agreed on joining PSG and PSG want Osimhen, but club to club agreement is still not done.”
Osimhen, who has a €130 million release clause in his contract signed last December, has garnered PSG’s interest following his impressive form.
With long-time admirers Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United priced out of the deal, PSG and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal have emerged as the most likely destinations for Osimhen.
Interestingly, Osimhen has turned down multiple offers from Al-Hilal, even though the Saudi giants were willing to meet Napoli’s transfer demands.
The key part of the deal hinges on negotiations between PSG and Napoli, with the French giants seeking a discount on Osimhen’s €130 million release clause.
However, sources from Napoli suggest the deal is close to completion. According to Tutto Napoli, Osimhen’s time in Naples is nearly over, and the former Lille star could leave Napoli’s training camp at any moment. The 25-year-old is not expected to don the club’s shirt again.
Napoli, cautious about Osimhen’s condition, left him out of their first friendly match of the season on Tuesday afternoon due to a slight muscle strain.
Additionally, the Super Eagles forward has suspended training without any official reasons, as Napoli aims to prevent any potential injuries.
Osimhen is no stranger to France, having spent a season at LOSC Lille after moving from Belgium’s Royal Sporting Charleroi.
During an impressive stint at Lille, he scored 18 goals across all competitions and earned the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé as the best African footballer in Ligue 1.
The Nigerian international netted 15 goals in 25 league matches for Napoli last season.
