American boxer, Ryan Garcia, 25, faced legal trouble outside the ring when he was arrested for alleged felony vandalism at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Beverly Hills over the weekend.
The incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon, leading to Garcia’s arrest by officers who were called to the scene a little before 5:45 p.m., as confirmed by Beverly Hills Police Department officials.
While the exact circumstances of the arrest remain unclear, Garcia was cooperative with the police.
He was subsequently booked on suspicion of felony vandalism and has since been released pending further investigation.
Although details surrounding the alleged vandalism have not been disclosed, it is reported that Garcia was “seemingly under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs” at the time of the incident.
Garcia’s recent victory over Devin Haney in April, intended to be a bout for the WBC junior welterweight title, was marred by controversy.
He missed weight by three pounds, rendering him ineligible to contend for the title.
Garcia has also been embroiled in allegations of testing positive for performance-enhancing substances post-fight, allegations which he vehemently denies, and which are currently under review.
With a professional record of 25-1, Garcia is a former World Boxing Council’s interim lightweight champion, with his career marked by both triumphs and challenges.
