A dog named Cecil in Pennsylvania gone viral for eating $4,000 cash left out by his owners.
According to The BBC, the money was meant for paying a contractor.
Cecil’s owners, Clayton and Carrie Law, found most of the chewed-up cash after looking through Cecil’s poop and vomit, but $450 is still missing.
Luckily, the vet said Cecil would be okay. Cecil had a costly snack after finding the money left on the kitchen counter, meant for paying for a fence installation.
“Suddenly Clayton yelled to me, ‘Cecil’s eating $4,000!'” Carrie Law said in an interview with the Pittsburgh City Paper. “I thought, ‘I cannot be hearing that.’ I almost had a heart attack.”
“He’s very particular – you could leave a steak on the table, and he wouldn’t touch it because he’s not food motivated,” Carrie Law told the paper. “But apparently he is money motivated.”
The couple painstakingly tried to piece together the torn $50 and $100 bills by taping them bit by bit. They made sure to find the serial numbers on both sides of the bills so that the banks would exchange them for new notes.
When they went to the bank, most of the damaged notes were accepted, but they couldn’t replace $450. The bank informed the Laws that these kinds of accidents happen quite often.
