The current nationwide strike action by national resident doctors in the country suffered a blow on Wednesday at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital Complex, Osogbo, as the state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, granted all of their outstanding requests.
According to Nigerian Tribune, Governor Adeleke approved the payment of hazard allowance for clinical and non-clinical employees working for the state teaching hospital with immediate effect at the meeting that the leadership of the medical union and administration of the teaching hospital attended.
The governor has also approved the payment of a portion of the annual residency training allowance to residency doctors working at the same facility.
However, the president of the medical union, Dr. John Ojo, requested that Governor Adeleke look into all other operational concerns the union had highlighted right away.
He also encouraged the medical staff to repay the state government’s kindness by recommitting to providing top-notch care.
