Academic Staff Union of Universities members and students at the University of Lagos staged a joint protest on Thursday, demanding the Federal Government address the union’s nine unresolved demands.
According to The PUNCH, the students showed solidarity with their lecturers, holding placards emphasizing the importance of proper funding for university education and fair compensation for lecturers.
The protest march began at the Julius Berger Hall, proceeded to the UNILAG gate, and concluded at the ASUU-UNILAG Secretariat.
ASUU-UNILAG Chairman, Prof. Kayode Adebayo, explained that the protest aimed to raise public awareness about the government’s inaction on their demands. The union seeks a fair agreement, proper funding, and transparency in university management.
