An Aston Villa player, Leon Bailey, is being investigated by West Midlands police for punching a fan following the club’s victory over Everton on Sunday.
According to the Daily Mail, the incident occurred in the corporate boxes at Villa Park when a fan asked Bailey to pose for a photo with his son, who was attending the game to celebrate his fifth birthday.
Bailey is accused of slamming the fan to the ground after denying his request for a picture shoot, an incident that was allegedly captured on CCTV and witnessed by multiple people.
After the alleged incident in which the supporter and Bailey clashed over the player’s apparent reluctance to take a selfie with the player’s son, Villa Park security phoned the police.
West Midlands police are investigating after the fan made a statement at the scene. Also, Aston Villa are also investigating the situation.
