A EuroMillions jackpot of £83,474,081.80 has finally been claimed after nearly two weeks of suspense, according to National Lottery operator Allwyn.
The winner, who remained unidentified for 13 days before stepping forward, now sits at 23rd place on the National Lottery’s list of its “most spectacular” wins in history.
The winning ticket purchased in-store matched the five main numbers 02, 11, 19, 30, and 49, along with the Lucky Star numbers 03 and 08 during the draw on January 24, GB News reported on Thursday.
Lottery officials were surprised by the delay in claiming the enormous prize, which had been described as “the biggest prize to have gone unclaimed at this stage.”
Senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn, Andy Carter, expressed his excitement when the prize was eventually claimed.
“This is absolutely incredible news, and we are delighted that this jaw-dropping EuroMillions jackpot prize has now been claimed,” he said.
“Everyone dreams of that huge win when they buy their EuroMillions ticket – and for this lucky ticket-holder, this dream has become a reality.”
He continued, “Imagine all the possibilities that are now within their grasp. We will now focus on supporting this ticket-holder through the process so they can start enjoying their win as soon as possible.”
As part of standard National Lottery protocol, the ticket must be validated and the prize paid out before the winner can choose whether to remain anonymous or go public.
Allwyn confirmed that details about the winner’s identity, location, or whether the ticket was claimed by an individual or a group would only be revealed if the winner decides to make them public.
This latest jackpot continues the UK’s strong record in EuroMillions history. The country’s largest win remains the £195 million jackpot claimed by an anonymous player in July 2022.
That was followed by Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester, who secured £184,262,899 in May of the same year.
The UK’s third-largest EuroMillions prize, worth £177 million, was won in November 2024.
The PUNCH reported EuroMillions, is a transnational lottery played across several European countries.
