A white supremacist, Callum Parslow, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for a stabbing attack on an asylum seeker, described by a judge as “undoubtedly a terrorist attack” in the United Kingdom.
The 32-year-old carried out the assault on Nahom Hagos at the Pear Tree Inn in Smite, near Worcester.
At Woolwich Crown Court, Parslow received a minimum sentence of 22 years and eight months for attempted murder.
The judge, Mr. Justice Dove, highlighted that Parslow’s actions were driven by his adoption of a “far right neo-Nazi mindset, which fuelled your warped, violent and racist views.”
During the trial, Parslow, who resides at Bromyard Terrace in Worcester, admitted traveling to the hotel with the intention of stabbing “one of the Channel migrants” out of “anger and frustration.”
He was convicted of attempted murder after a three-week trial at Leicester Crown Court last year.
In addition to this, Parslow pleaded guilty to an unrelated sexual offense and two charges of sending electronic communications intended to cause distress and anxiety.
The judge condemned Parslow’s attack as “a vicious and unprovoked assault on a complete stranger,” adding that Mr. Hagos endured “devastating injuries.”
Mr. Hagos, a 25-year-old Eritrean national, has been granted leave to remain in the UK until November 2028.
The attack occurred when Mr. Hagos, a former resident at the hotel, returned to borrow a bicycle. Parslow used a “specialist” knife, purchased online for £770, which the judge described as having an “especially hard and sharp blade.”
