Two persons were killed and five others were injured in a deadly collision on the Onitsha-Awka Expressway near the State Police Criminal Investigation Department in Anambra.
It was learned that the accident happened late on Sunday between a MAN truck with the license plate number FKJ22XJ and a Toyota Hiace bus with the license plate number GDD68ZP. The driver of the MAN truck was not known.
According to The PUNCH, the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, the probable cause of the crash was attributed to road obstruction and speeding.
The FRSC personnel confirmed that two male adults were killed in the crash that involved 12 people compromising eight male adults and four female adults, while five people compromising three male adults and two female adults sustained varying degrees of injuries.
An eyewitness said the truck developed a fault and was abandoned by the truck driver after placing a caution sign at the front and rear.
The bus driver, while on top speed, rammed into the truck from the rear and crashed.
As of the time of filling this report, the FRSC first responders from RS5.33 Nteje Unit Command had taken the injured victims to a yet-to-be-confirmed hospital, while the dead victims were taken to New Word Mortuary, Nteje.
The Sector Commander, Anambra State, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, while commiserating with the families of the dead victims, also wished the injured victims a quick recovery.
He seriously warned motorists to desist from speeding and to keep to the recommended speed limit.
