A fatal accident occurred along Airport Road in Kano on Wednesday morning, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and leaving one person seriously injured.
The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano Sector Command, confirmed the incident, attributing it to dangerous driving. The crash involved a commercial DAF truck and a privately owned Jincheng motorcycle.
Speaking on the accident, FRSC spokesperson CRC Abdullahi Labaran said, “The crash, caused by dangerous driving, involved a DAF truck (commercial) and a Jincheng motorcycle (private), resulting in two fatalities and one serious injury out of the six people involved, all of whom were male.”
According to Labaran, FRSC personnel swiftly responded to the distress call, arriving at the scene within minutes.
The injured victim was transported to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for medical attention, while the deceased were taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
The affected vehicles and recovered items were handed over to Gwagwarwa Police Division for further investigation.
Labaran urged motorists to prioritize road safety, stating, “We encourage all road users to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragic incidents. The FRSC extends its condolences to the families of the deceased and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.”
However, an eyewitness, Dennis Peter, claimed that the accident resulted in three fatalities. He recounted, “The truck rammed into the motorcycle, crushing the victims. Three people died on the spot.”
