The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two individuals in Ibadan’s Amuloko area for allegedly possessing a human skull belonging to an unidentified woman.
The arrest followed a viral video that captured residents confronting a suspect identified only as Musa, who was caught with the skull in his possession.
According to The PUNCH, the command’s spokesperson, Osifeso Adewale, the arrest was made after local residents became suspicious of Musa’s unusual behavior and demanded to inspect the contents of a sack he was carrying.
To their shock, they discovered the sack contained a fresh human skull.
“The case is currently under investigation. Two suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,” Adewale said in a statement.
The video of Musa’s apprehension was circulated by OyoAffairs, an online news platform, which reported, “Man caught with a fresh human head earlier today in the Amuloko area of Ibadan. He has been handed over to the police.”
It has been reported that Musa confessed to being part of a syndicate involved in the illegal trade of human body parts in the state.
In a related incident, two men were recently detained by the Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun, for allegedly exhuming the head of a freshly buried corpse in Saki, located in the Saki West Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The duo was caught red-handed by the security personnel during the act.
The Oyo State Police Command has assured the public that they are actively investigating these cases to uncover further details about the syndicate’s operations.
