Nigerians have slammed the Nigeria Football Federation after the Super Falconets of Nigeria were forced to sleep on the floor and chairs at the Turkish Airport on Tuesday.
Punch Metro reported that the Falconets represented Nigeria in the ongoing U-20 World Cup in Costa Rice, and were returning home after their quarter-final elimination by the Netherlands.
However, the team were left stranded at a Turkish airport, leaving Nigerians displeased after images of the poor sleeping conditions surfaced online.
A former Super Eagles media officer, Colin Udoh, who shared the photos on his social media pages said, “Nigeria’s #Falconets have been travelling from Costa Rica since 6:30am on Monday.
“They’re now in Istanbul on a 24-hour layover and sleeping on the airport chairs and floor, or wherever they can find.”
The Nigerian ladies raised hopes with their exhilarating displays which earned them a perfect record in the group stages, but they fell short in their first game of the knockout stage.
Nigeria won all three of their group games, including an opening-day shocker against France.
The Falconets also defeated South Korea 1-0 in their second group stage game of the U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica before coming back from a goal down to defend Canada in their third group game.

@Kesmalso1 tweeted, “Things don’t work they way you people think it in your head, why take up a visa that will cost NFA huge budget for a few hours transit when they are already on a very tight budget or do you think hotel and transit visa for a full team cost 5k?”
@Chidinnmani tweeted,”Oga stop sounding as if the resources to do all these no dey, even if it’s 30mins, NFF can afford it and save this embarrassment. Because its football the expenses is much but only one person will be invited to an event he will go with countless uninvited numbers.”

@Holarmeejee tweeted,” They might probably not buy them a ticket with a 24hrs layover but Turkish air is fond of keeping travelers at the airport for more than 10 hours when your flight has just 2 hours connecting time.”
