Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully neutralized numerous bandits during a military operation in Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of Sunday, followed a distress call from residents and vigilantes in Yar Galadima village. Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Centre for the operation, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday.
“The troops responded promptly to assist the community and restore peace to the affected area,” Abdullahi stated.
During the operation, troops encountered ambushes at two locations on their way to the village. They cleared the ambush sites, eliminating several terrorists, while others fled with injuries.
Abdullahi added, “The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma swiftly deployed aircraft to provide close air support, targeting fleeing terrorists. This led to the neutralization of a significant number of them.”
He further assured residents that the operation underscores the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring safety in the North West region.
“We will continue to act decisively against threats to peace and security,” he affirmed.
