Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully apprehended three individuals suspected of collaborating with terrorist groups in Taraba State.
The PUNCH reported that this operation was detailed in a statement released by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Olubodunde Oni, on Friday in Jalingo.
The operation took place on October 15 in Landey Jessy village, located in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba.
Oni emphasized that the success of the operation was the result of precise execution based on actionable intelligence.
“The success was achieved by acting on intelligence reports of some bandits in Kona Range of Mountains, which cut across Jalingo and Lau Local Government,” he said.
This intelligence was reportedly derived from reports concerning the movement of bandits in the Kona Range of Mountains, which spans both Jalingo and Lau Local Government areas.
Following the intelligence report, troops from the 6 Brigade conducted thorough operations in the vicinity, leading to the apprehension of the three suspected collaborators.
Their names have been withheld for operational security reasons. During the subsequent investigation, one of the suspects admitted that his residence had been utilized as a hideout for the bandits’ weapons following their operations.
Additionally, one suspect was identified by a victim he had attempted to kidnap in Iware, located in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, in September.
“The suspects are now in custody and are undergoing further investigations to ascertain the extent of their involvement and to gather more intelligence on the terrorist activities in the region,” the Army spokespsrson said.
In his statement, Captain Oni reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and to upholding the nation’s territorial integrity.
