The Defence Headquarters says that troops on operations across the country have killed 814 terrorists and arrested 1,326 others in the past three months.
According to Vanguard, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba said this on Thursday, September 7, during a briefing in Abuja.
It also said that troops recovered 6,652,250 litres of stolen crude, 3,577 livestock, 501 weapons, 3,600 ammunition and rescued 721 kidnap victims within the period under review.
Buba said troops killed 80 indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) fighters in southeast Nigeria, arrested 42 kidnappers while a total of 4, 560 terrorists and members of their families surrendered to troops at different locations in North East Nigeria.
Given the breakdown of troops operations, the Defence spokesperson said troops of Operation Hadin Kai in the North West killed 240 terrorists, arrested 276 collaborators, and rescued 249 kidnap victims.
He said the troops also recovered 169 different calibre weapons and 1,196 ammunition.
On troops operations in the North Central zone, Buba said troops killed 94 terrorists, arrested 477 others, rescued 76 kidnap victims and recovered 76 arms and ammunition and 1,722 livestock.
The Defence spokesperson also said troops of Operation Hadarin Daji and Operation Whirl Punch in the North West killed 105 terrorists and arrested 104 collaborators.
He said: “It is clear that the terrorists and their cohorts cannot win in the face of ongoing military pressure against them.
“Accordingly, the terrorists and their cohorts are encouraged to drop their arms and rejoin society to provide a better life for themselves and their children. They risk annihilation if they fail to do so.”
