The Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, on Thursday, met with all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders and other strategic officers to tackle traffic robberies and other disturbances in the state.
This meeting was necessitated by the agitations from residents concerning the resurgence of these disturbances.
The Public Relations Officer, State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin anipr, mipra, disclosed this in a press release signed and issued on Thursday after the meeting.
According to the release, the state police resolved to launch Operation Flush to stamp out crime, the state CP also assured of optimum security for all and sundry.
The release read, “Following recent agitations by some residents of Lagos State concerning complaints of resurgence of traffic robberies and other disturbances, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, today, July 27, 2023, summoned a meeting with all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders and other strategic officers.
“At the meeting, CP Owohunwa, unequivocally warned all DPOs against dereliction of duty, vowing that any officer found culpable would be dealt with in accordance with laid down rules. He equally charged them to review their respective security architecture towards improving security in their respective AORs and stamping out completely all forms of traffic robbery and other vices.
“To further consolidate this stance, the CP has launched a state-wide operation designed to identify exact trouble spots, especially along construction areas, and flush out criminals, particularly traffic robbers and other miscreants. The operation code-named Operation Flush commences with immediate effect.
“In the same vein, the CP has urged residents and visitors to Lagos State to continue to support the police in the task of fighting crime and criminality by providing prompt information and giving all forms of assistance required of them.
“Meanwhile, CP Owohunwa has assured Lagosians that the Lagos State Police Command would continue to partner with the government and other stakeholders towards ensuring optimum safety and security for all and sundry.”
