President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday administered the oath of office to eight newly appointed Federal Permanent Secretaries, addressing both current and upcoming vacancies within state and regional administrations.
The swearing-in event took place just before the Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, indicated that the FEC session would be split into two parts: the inauguration of the Permanent Secretaries and the subsequent Council meeting.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, facilitated the brief swearing-in ceremony, which proceeded in two segments. During the ceremony, the citations of the new Permanent Secretaries were read sequentially.
The appointees included Dr. Emanso Umobong Okop from Akwa-Ibom, Obi Emeka Vitalis from Anambra, Mahmood Fatima from Bauchi, and Danjuma Mohammed Sanusi from Jigawa. Additional inductees were Olusanya Olubunmi from Ondo, Dr. Keshinro Maryam Ismaila from Zamfara, Akujobi Chinyere Ijeoma representing the South-East, and Isokpunwu Christopher Osaruwanmwen for the South-South.
In a separate development, the cabinet members extended their congratulations to President Tinubu on his re-election as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States.
Representing the Council, the SGF remarked that West African regional leaders had recognized a dedicated leader in President Tinubu, one who is committed to the advancement and development of both the country and the African continent, prompting his re-election.
