An All Progressives Congress supporter, Mohammed Waziri, has traveled 15 days by foot from Gombe to Abuja in an effort to support Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima win the 2023 presidential election for the party.
Waziri who revealed he trekked a long distance to support the party’s candidates, said he was joined by other supporters as he delivered certain documents to the APC presidential campaign office in Abuja.
Even though he traveled through horrific locations to reach Abuja, he claimed that there was no danger to his life when he started the voyage from Gombe on October 24, 2022.
Since Tinubu became the APC’s presidential candidate, Waziri claimed, he has organized multiple meetings to discuss the necessity to support Tinubu in order for him to win in the six states that make up the North East zone.
He stated: “Trekking from Gombe to Abuja is to show Tinubu that North East zone of the country is happy with him, and in full support of his aspiration.
“We are not going to disappoint Tinubu/Shettima, we are aware of what had happened in past. Both of them served their people in the capacity of Governors well, this shows that they are experienced and competent to lead Nigeria.
“The essence of my trekking is to encourage people to believe in leaders and work for them,” he added.
The deputy chief security officer at the APC presidential campaign office, Audu Odanmehol, who welcomed the trekker, stated the party leaders who would have received him had gone to Jos, the capital of the Plateau state, for the party’s rally.
He, however, commended him for trekking such distance to show his support Tinubu and Shettima’s campaign.
