A three-storey building collapsed at Sonuga Street, Palm Avenue, in the Mushin area of Lagos State on Friday.
Confirming the report, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said that the incident occurred around 12 noon.
The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that a rescue operation has begun.
“A building has collapsed on Sonuga Street, at Palm Avenue, in Mushin. Rescue Operation is ongoing. I will keep you posted,” he said.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the agency could not give a causality report nor could they confirm the number of residents possibly trapped in the rubble.
Meanwhile, this is coming barely two weeks after a seven-storey building collapsed in the Oniru area of the state, killing six persons.
Following the collapse of the seven-story building at Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru Road, Oniru Estate on Victoria Island, the Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Idris Salako, resigned.
However, a source in the governor’s house told The PUNCH that the commissioner was asked to resign due to the spate of building collapses since his appointment in 2019.
