The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three students for allegedly gang-raping a female colleague in the State.
According to The PUNCH, the students from Akure High School were said to have committed the crime in a bush on the premises of the school in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
It was gathered from a source in the school that the victim went into the bush to defecate but on her way back, the three pupils, Idris Matthew, Olawale Tobi, and Ajayi Micheal, accosted her and raped her.
However, another source stated that the crime was committed by the suspects during the school’s recess and that the boys followed and ambushed the victim in a remote area behind the school.
The source said, “After they have raped her, the girl walked into the classroom with blood stain on her uniform. This indicated that she must have been deflowered.”
According to the source, one of the suspects tried to woo the victims but was rejected, so he called his friends to follow the victim to the bush where the crime was committed.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspects conspired to commit the offence.
“There is a case of conspiracy and defilement against the trio of Idris Matthew, 17, Olawale Tobi, 18, Ajayi Micheal 17, all are students of the Akure High School
“They lured a 14-year- old student into the bush at the back of the school gate and gang- raped her. The three suspects are in custody”, Odulami said.
